Pointing a laser at an aircraft or at the flight path of an aircraft is a serious offense with severe legal penalties. Under Title 18 of the U.S.C., section 39A, the person shall be fined, imprisoned up to 5 years, or both. Regulatory agencies, like the FAA, can impose substantial civil fines for laser interference. People engaged in this activity can also face endangerment charges like reckless or public endangerment, as pilots might experience temporary blindness, which may lead to an aircraft accident, in which case the responsible party may face lawsuits for damages like injuries or property loss.
DON'T do it!
