Part 107 Certificate
Do I need to have a Part 107 license to fly any drone?

You need a Part 107 license if:
-
You are flying a drone for non-recreational purposes, this means much more than:
-
Photography or videography for payment.
-
Inspections, mapping, or any business-related activity.
-
Creating content for monetized platforms like YouTube.
-
* You do not necessarily need to be compensated to be required to fly under Part 107
You don't need a Part 107 license if:
-
You are flying for recreational purposes and meet the following conditions:
-
The drone weighs less than 55 lbs (including any attachments).
-
You follow the FAA's recreational drone rules:
-
Fly strictly for fun (this is not as simple as it sounds).
-
Register your drone if it weighs more than 0.55 lbs (250 grams).
-
Take The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) and carry proof of completion.
-
Operate below 400 feet in uncontrolled airspace (Class G).
-
Follow local rules and avoid restricted areas like airports or national parks.
